Bunny Bento!

Yesterday, I made a semi bento lunch but since I don't have any actual bento boxes yet, I put it on plates for the kiddos. I posted my psuedo bento to Hapa Bento for the Easter Bento B.O.M.B. but alas, it was not in a box so it did not count as an entry. I spent a good deal of time searching the internet fo some cute and affordable bento boxes after that. Unfortunately, no matter where I order from, it will take at least 2 weeks to get here and most like likely, 3 weeks. I went out shopping today and there really isn't anything out there that is even close to being a bento box. At least not anywhere near here. There is a chance I might find something in Pittsburgh, but I really don't want to drive that far. So, I guess we will be waiting on a package from Hong Kong. Until then, I decided to dig through my kitchen and see if I might be able to find something that I can bento-ize and I did find a small container that I decided to try out. It worked out quite nicely and here is what I came up with:
In this meal is a cheese bunny with bologna and nori detail, bunny hop pasta and veggies with cheese, mini sweet yellow pepper, cooked broccoli, boiled egg, strawberry flower with celery stem, blueberries on picks, and sugar snap peas. I think it looks pretty decent for my very first bento. You have to start somewhere, right? Laural loved it when she saw it. Her little eyes got so big and she just gushed over how pretty it was. I think we have found a new way to eat lunch. Between Muffin Tin Mondays and bento, we may never use a plate for lunch again!

It looks much larger than it really is with Laural holding it like this!

I think I'm going to see if this will qualify for the Hapa Bento contest. It's not an actual box made specifically for bento, so I don't know...
